President William Ruto commands a confident lead in the run up to the 2027 general election a new survey by Infotrack poll has revealed.

The poll however has unveiled a major change in the president’s stronghold with his traditional Rift Valley region where he comes from losing the top spot to the North Eastern Region.

According to the Poll Ruto enjoys a 59% support in the North Eastern region followed by Rift Valley.

“ The president leads in about 5 regions; his highest is North Eastern followed by Rift Valley 46%, Nyanza 40%, Coast 33%, Western 35% and Nairobi 19% .” Infotrack has said.

According to the Survey if polls were to be held today Ruto would emerge victorious with 32% of the votes followed by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 13 per cent, while Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i are tied at 12 per cent each.

The survey however shows that if opposition leaders were to front a single candidate and convenes their indivual support bases to back that one flag bearer then they could unsit the president.

The top three opposition candidates Kalonzo, Sifuna and Matiangi cumulatively enjoy a 37% slice of the presidential pie compared to Ruto’s 32%.

The matrix further favours the opposition if the numbers of other hopefuls including PLP’s Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and DCP’s Rigathi Gachagua are factored in which could boost a united opposition candidates numbers to over 40%.

“ If cumulatively we combine the popularity of all the key leading united opposition candidates then now they are ahead of the president.” Infotrack has noted.

The final presidential result may however be swayed by the undecided block which stands at 13%; whichever side that they will favor will have a decisive advantage in the race to the House on The Hill.
