Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has denied claims that the government is involved in the abduction of activists, insisting that the current administration does not tolerate enforced disappearances.
PS Omollo has claimed that abductions were rampant in the former regime but under the current regime no Kenyan has been abducted.
This is despite increased reports of disappearances of anti- government activists that has been blamed on security agencies.
“In the past regime we had this problem of abductions with some being found in rivers however since we came to power President Ruto has been clear that under his regime we shall not have such like issues.”
Several activists who participated in the commemoration of June 25th 2026 demos reported that they were unlawfully held by security agents and tortured before being released several days later.
Among those held incommunicado include Julius Kamau, Davis Lichuma, Michael Ngigi(Jomo Kenyatta) and Ezekiel Kyama Nzyoki(Mr. Speaker Sir).
The Interior PS has however said said security agencies abducted no one instead saying they have handled recent demonstrations in accordance with the law, noting that individuals arrested during protests were processed through the justice system rather than subjected to enforced disappearances.
“The other day, we had peaceful protests. Kenyans who wanted to demonstrate peacefully did so, while those with a different intention also went ahead. Those who were arrested were taken to court, not just recently but also during previous protests.”
PS Omollo alleged that some people have falsely claimed to have been abducted in an attempt to portray the government as indifferent to the welfare of Kenyans.
