Students at AIC Laboret Primary School in Mosop Nandi are set to benefit from improved digital learning following the launch of a Sh1.5 million ICT project.

The donation from the Policyholders Compensation Fund includes 39 computers, a full Starlink network kit and a television to support teachers in digital teaching and enhance student engagement in the classroom.

PCF Head of Corporate Services Mumo Abudo has said the donation is part of the State Corporation’s efforts to improve learning.

“We felt this is one of the needy schools in terms of digitization given that it is far flung that is why we resolved to offer this donation.” Abudo has said.

The school led by head teacher Joyce Kiprop has welcomed the donation saying it will improve learning and digital literacy amongst its students.

“One of the goals of Competency Based Education is Digital literacy; this donation goes along way to assisting us attain that goal.” Joyce has said.

“Apart from helping our pupils become avast with use of computers it will ease teachers work.” She has added.

There is a huge disparity in Kenya’s schools with learners in urban areas having an advantage over their rural counterparts.

Less than 10% of rural pupils have access to digital learning materials like laptops, while only 18% have internet access.
