The MP in a social media post has expressed gratitude to the people of Ol-Kalou for electing him in a by-election that pitted him against UDA’s Samuel Muchina.

Ol Kalou MP-elect Sammy Douglas Waweru Kamau has caused a buzz online after he boarded a matatu to Parliament for his swearing-in ceremony.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24. On our way to Parliament for the swearing-in ceremony. Grateful to God and the people of Ol Kalou for this honour,” he wrote online.

Waweru garnered 35,440 votes against 5,450 for UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah, delivering a resounding victory for the opposition outfit.

Waweru is the first and the only MP elected on the DCP party that is led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The newly elected MP was officially sworn in during an official ceremony overseen by National Assembly Speaker Moses Masikha Wetangula.

“I Sammy Douglas Waweru Kamau having been elected as Member of Parliament for Ol-Kalou do swear that I will bear true allegiance to the people and the constitution of Kenya.” The MP swore in part.

Waweru was flanked by DCP MP’s who wore neon green coats synonymous with the official color of the party.
