Popular Bible application, YouVersion launched its regional hub in Kenya to beef up support for the growing consumers of the Word.
The grand opening ceremony on 23rd February 2026 marked a great milestone in the spread of the gospel already underway in the region, with various partners coming along to witness it.
Regional Hub Leader Joseph Gachira affirmed that Kenya is a pivotal location for the hub and its centrality would conductively serve the East African region alongside other hubs in the continent.
“We know the power of the word of God and anyone who reads the Bible can never be the same again. It is our key duty to let the word spread to everyone wherever they are irrespective of their language, community, age or literacy level.”
The question on why Kenya became a significant location for the hub is a reminder of where the country is in supporting the online platforms consumption and especially regarding the thirst for the Word.

Speaking at the launch, CEO and Founder Bobby Greunwald said that the App’s idea was born in 2007 and gained momentum in 2008 through focus and resilience which led to downloads hitting the billion mark.

Bible reading is becoming inclusive with diverse people being able to read and listen to it, and that agrees with the slogan of YouVersion which emphasizes on the word reaching Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday.
YouVersion Spokesperson and communication lead Lucinder Ross said that the Bible App has plans to reach all including the deaf community.
“God is doing something special right now and we are glad to be part of it through YouVersion. Everybody who has felt marginalized will be included in the agenda of YouVersion which includes bible plans for people with hearing impairment. We also have videos with sign language and more opportunities are ongoing to reach the deaf community.”
First Lady Rachel Ruto, who was assigned the global ambassadorial role of YouVersion said that the hub will strengthen faith in families and this launch shows that Africa contributes to global impartation of the Word.
YouVersion as an App has ensured that the word of God reaches far and wide recording over 1 Billion downloads since its inception.
