The National Cohesion and Integration Commision NCIC has condemned the violence witnessed in various parts of Homabay on a day that the Linda Mwananchi Movement was set to hold rallies in the county.

NCIC Chairman Bishop Kepha Omae has termed the violence as “unfortunate and worrying.”

According to the Chairman, they have begun processes of holding leaders responsible for the chaos accountable.

“The Commision reiterates that any Kenyan is allowed to hold political activities in any part of the country as long as they do not break the law.” The Commision has said.

The commision has called for restraint as the country readies for the 2027 political seasons.

It has urged youth to avoid being incited
to cause chaos.

“Political competition must never be equated to hostility and ethnic antagonism. ” The statement reads in part.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement was met with violence when it attempted to hold rallies in Nyandiwa, Suba South, and at Homabay Town with youngsters chanting pro government slogans blocking and stoning their motorcade.

Homabay, which has for a long time been a hotbed of opposition politics, is home to key allies of President William Ruto, including Governor Gladys Wanga, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo.
