A suspected Ebola case that was reported at AAR Hospital in Kiambu County has turned negative.

In a statement the ministry of health has said that public health experts responded immediately and collected samples from the said patient.

“The Ministry wishes to inform the public that laboratory analysis has confirmed that the patient tested negative for Ebola Virus Disease.”  Public Health Principal Secreary Mary Muthoni has said.

“Based on the epidemiological investigations conducted and the laboratory findings, the reported case is not Ebola.” The P.S has added.

The ministry has further reassured Kenyans that no single case of the Ebola virus that has caused 223 deaths has been reported in Kenya.

906 suspected cases have been reported in Uganda and the Democractic Republic of Congo (DRC) that is the ground zero for the Bundibugyo variance that is responsible for the recent outbreak.

“The Ministry continues to work closely with county governments, health facilities, points of entry, and national and international partners to strengthen preparedness and response capacities against Ebola and other public health threats.” The ministry has said.

Kenyans have been urged to seek information from official sources and refrain from spreading unverified information with the Ministry warning that fake news may cause unnecessary alarm and fear.

“Timely, accurate, and responsible communication is essential in supporting effective public health action and safeguarding our communities.” P.S Muthoni has said.

Kenya is among the top 10 countries that have been listed by the Africa Centre for Diseease Control (Africa C.D.C) as being at the highest risk of reporting Ebola cases.

Other nations include Rwanda, Tanzania, Angola, Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda.
