Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has waded into the presidential security lapses accusing the Interior Cabinet Secreary Kipchumba Murkomen of failing in his duty.
The DCP Party Boss accuses Murkomen of concentrating on parties instead of national security.
“In the inner circle of the Interior Ministry I am told he is called the Minister of Entertainment- aka waziri wa sherehe; He is known for party after party.” Gachagua has said.
The sentiments follow concerns on an incident where a man in Ganze, Kilifi County breached presidential security, dashed and clanged to the head of state during his tour of the Coast.
The security lapse has led to a major shakeup of the Presidents security with Inspector General Douglas Kanja terming the incident as “unacceptable” and a matter of “the gravest national concern.”
Despite the changes in presidential security, Gachagua has pointed his guns at Murkomen claiming that he has no grasp of matters security further adding that he is unreachable to be briefed on security matters.
“This ministry is far too serious for such a childish minister.” Gachagua has said.
The former second in command has said the lapse is a sign of greater weakness in the security of the nation questioning the capability of CS Murkomen to guarantee the security of the country.
“If Murkomen cannot protect his appointing authority (The President) how about the rest of the country.” He has said.
Head of the Presidential Escort Unit Noah Kirwa Maiyo has been recalled to the police headquarters at Vigilance House with his position being taken over by William Sawe.
The Ganze incident is the latest in a string of security misses involving the President the most critical being that of a shoe being hulled at the head of state in Kuria, Migori County in May 2025.
