Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has assured the international community that the reported case of Ebola poses no health threat to locals and foreigners saying that trade and tourism ought not to be negatively impacted.
Speaking following a meeting with diplomats and representatives of international organizations, the Cabinet secretary has said the imported case of a Kenyan citizen who was working in the DRC should not be treated as an Ebola outbreak.
“The response continues to be guided by verified epidemiological information, scientific evidence and established public health protocols. The National Incident Management System has been operational since May 2026, with national and county emergency response structures on high alert,” said Duale.
The assurance from CS Duale follows travel advisories by several countries including the USA and the UK to their citizens urging their citizens who plan to travel to Kenya to be cautious.
The CS has dismissed reports that a man in Wajir County is suspected of suffering from Ebola.
Reports had circulated online alleging that health officials in Wajir were holding a man who had travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and was suspected of suffering from the viral haemorrhagic disease.
According to the reports, the man, a resident of Wajir, had developed severe illness and failed to respond to treatment.
The reports further alleged that he was admitted to a nursing home with symptoms including fever, headache and cough, as well as severe anaemia
