The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has warned politicians against reckless comments that could tarnish erode public confidence in the commission ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The commission has particularly taken issue with remarks by UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar insinuating that the government will do all it takes to win the next polls including using details of dead persons to vote for President William Ruto.

IEBC Commissioner Alutalala Mukhwana has said the biometric system cannot ‘allow a dead person to vote’

“The machines we have rely on biometrics such as fingerprints and iris. So how can a dead person register as a voter or even vote?” He posed.

“Politicians must exercise caution because we are tired of the statements that are hateful and erode public trust in IEBC. They have crossed the line,” Mukhwana declared.

The warning came during the launch of peace platform by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and other stakeholders as concerns mount of arising political goonism and chaos ahead of the election.

Hassan has attracted wide soread condemnation after he claimed he would mobilise even the dead to cast votes in favour for President William Ruto.

He sensationally claimed that the thumbs of the dead would be used to bypass the fingerprint verification and vote, before they are layed to rest
