The church has urged the government to involve children and young people in developing Kenya’s long-term plans beyond Vision 2030, according to Bishop Mark Kariuki, General Overseer of Deliverance Church.

Kariuki said the country must build a strong foundation by engaging children in schools and asking them to envision the Kenya they want to inherit in the coming decades.

The bishop was speaking during the National Conversation on Beyond 2030 presided over by President William Ruto at The Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

“I once asked Sunday school kids what they wanted to be in future some said doctors, teachers, presidents none said let me go and ask my parents. Why because they have a vision for the future.” The bishop said.

“If we get all our children to have dreams and to see what a nation they would like to see when they are old, they will capture it, they will run with it, and will not be disappointed,” he added.

Kariuki has called on Kenyans to be positive in their outlook for the country.

“One of the problems we have in our nation today is that we are so negative, so negative, we never see anything good,” Kariuki said.

Kariuki said giving children a stake in Kenya’s future will help create leaders who can sustain the national vision beyond 2030.

The bishop has suggested that the development of the Vision that will succeed the vision 2030 should be cascaded to the grass roots and have everyone involved including children.
