Jambojet has begun the process of tracing passengers who boarded its flight from Kampala to Nairobi that has been confirmed to have also ferried the first Kenyan imported case of the Ebola Virus.

The flight company that operates in Kenya and the East African region has said it is working with The Ministry of Health to trace the passengers and crew members who were aboard the flight.

“Jambojet is aware of reports concerning a guest who travelled on Saturday 3rd October on flight JM 8523 from Entebbe to Nairobi,” the airline said.

“The health and safety of our guests, crew and staff remains our highest priority,” Jambojet added.

The Ministry of Health said it is tracing 23 passengers and 4 crew members who boarded the flight.

It intends to isolate passengers for the requisite 21 days in line with guidelines for containing the spread of the Ebola virus that has so far led to over 4000 deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Health CS Aden Duale said that, so far, 28 contacts of the Ebola patient have been identified, including family members and healthcare workers who attended to the deceased.

“Arrangements for the quarantine of those at risk are ongoing to protect public health, and the facilities where they will be quarantined are ready,” he said.

The DRC and Uganda are the most affected with the current wave of Ebola virus.

Kenya is hosting an isolation facility for USA Citizens in Africa who will have been exposed to the virus.
