Police in Ruai on Wednesday, 16th September 2026 arrested an 18-year-old woman after she allegedly attempted to deliver cutting tools concealed inside food to three suspects being held at Ruai Police Station.

Christine Njoki Gitau arrived at the station carrying a plate of rice and meat, ostensibly to deliver a meal to three friends detained at the facility.

But what appeared to be an ordinary food delivery quickly turned into a police operation after officers inspected the meal and allegedly discovered a pair of pliers and a pair of shears hidden inside it.

Police suspect the tools were intended to help the detainees break out of custody.

“During the inspection of the food, officers discovered tools concealed inside the meal,” Directorate of Criminal Investigation said. “The discovery raised suspicion that the items could have been intended to facilitate an escape.”

The food was reportedly destined for Emmanuel Bosire, Ismael Arisa and Brian Gatheru, who are being held at the station in connection with allegations of robbery with violence and gang rape.

Investigators allege that the three operated an anonymous TikTok account which they used to establish contact with young women and lure them into meetings.

Police further allege that the women were subsequently sexually assaulted and robbed of their valuables.

The allegations against the three suspects are yet to be tested in court, and they remain presumed innocent unless convicted.

Investigators are now seeking to establish whether the suspected attempt to supply the tools was linked to the offences for which the three are being held, and whether other people were involved.

Njoki was subsequently placed under arrest as detectives launched investigations into the alleged escape attempt.

Police will also be investigating whether Gitau acted alone or was delivering the items on instructions from other people.

“The circumstances surrounding the delivery of the items are now under investigation,” detectives said. “Investigators are working to establish whether there were other persons involved in the suspected plan.”
